Resign, Rumsfeld

The title is from the Economist.

However, it looks like ToughEnough may have made it's first predicative error in a long time. Bush is on TV standing strong for his defense secretary and no Republicans have called for Rummy's resignation.

It appears that Bush would rather have a no-longer-credible defense secretary then show to the world that he takes the prisoner abuse seriously.

The upside may well be that Rumsfeld remaining as defense secretary only enhances partisan rage over Bush's failed Iraq policies and helps Kerry in November. If this happens, Bush will have no one to blame but himself.
