Obama is done

With one fell swoop I think Obama pretty well ended whatever chance he had of becoming president this week by his insulting everyone from gay rights activists to Paul Krugman.

Unfortunately, it does seem more and more these days that he never really stopped to think exactly why it was he'd decided to run and how exactly he'd go about winning. He seems to have rather unwittingly stumbled into a strategy which rests on appealing to anti-gay bigots and the kill social security now crowd in order to differentiate himself from Hillary.

The thing is, Obama would make a fine president, but as a candidate, he's obviously in way over his head.

Well, there's always 2016...

Well what now? Pile aboard the Richardson express? Or take a flyer with Dodd....

I also think that Obama has great potential, but I wish he had indeed stuck to his original (or what was rumored to be the original) career plan, of running for president in 2012 or 2016. His campaign mistakes are all about lack of experience (and, also, perhaps, lack of planning. . )

Personally, I can't consider Richardson. As a former Southwesterner, I know the local lore on him too well.

I continue to find the 2008 race very depressing.
