I'm back

Sorry for a slow posting week. I was away in Virginia and D.C. playing concerts with my quartet, Antares.

I understand from glimpses of CNN in various hotel rooms that it was a pretty exciting week. It's becoming harder and harder for me to understand why the Democrats dont just throw caution to the wind and embrace Murtha. I can understand the argument against it intellectually but it's making less and less sense politically by the day.

It's time for the Democrats to come up with a unified position on the war and to speak with one voice. Having the Big Dog come out and say things like "we can still succeed in Iraq" while a fellow Democrat, John Murtha, a patriotic, influential former Marine says it's time for our troops to come home makes your head spin.

Still, it's encouraging that Murtha may have served as the kick in the butt the Democrats needed to come up with some kind of unified message on the war prior to the '06 midterms. If this fight were taking place during the campaign, all sorts of wankery and he said, she said would obscure the issue for the voters.
