The Morning After

I've been thinking about this for quite some time: What should be the Democrats' reaction when Bush up and decides, after failing to build support for his destruction of Social Security, that tax reform is more important?

We'd best rub their noses in it. In the future, when the Bush administration proposes tax reform favoring the rich, we should say: Remember the Social Security plan?

...Atrios chimes in, castigating Ed Kilgore for suggesting it won't matter if one or two Democrats toss Bush a lifeline. Krugman also makes a similar point.
