Syria

I'm not sure what all this means. But it seems pretty obvious that Syria is responsible for the assassination of Rafiq Hariri, the Lebanese opposition leader. Debka reports it may have been due to Hariri's call for peace with Israel since Lebanon's own territorial dispute with Israel was resolved recently. They also claim that the Bush administration was hoping Hariri would be successful in the upcoming Lebanese election to complete a trio of three democratic elections in the Middle East. Apparently, all this was too much for Assad, who promptly put a stop to it in the form of a 350 kilogram suicide car bomb. In response, Washington has recalled our ambassador to Syria, Margaret Scobey.

With that, we might as well prepare ourselves for Syria to replace Iran as number one on the neocons' hit-list and perhaps an excuse for Bush to, once again, withdraw from the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

...faster than even I thought possible, the wingnutosphere is gunning for war with Syria.
