CNN/Time Poll

It's official, Bush is in free fall. His poll numbers, both job approval and head-to-head matchups, are falling. Here are the numbers from a new CNN/Time Poll:
    Kerry 51% Bush 46%

    with Nader...

    Kerry 49% Bush 44% Nader 6%
Even more remarkable, Kerry leads Bush 46% to 43% in terms of who would do a better job in Iraq.

While it's far too soon to call it over, I have the sense from all the recent polling that Bush - to borrow a phrase from stock analysts - has broken through an important resistance level on his way to even lower ratings. Once a majority of Americans do not approve of the job the President is doing it becomes very difficult for him to work his way back into Americans' good graces. Things are so bad, it's unlikely Americans will simply forget all that has happened even if the situation in Iraq improves before November. Plus, Kerry still has a convention and a VP pick to help give him a boost in media attention and poll numbers.
