Precisely how is it people like Joe Trippi and Barack Obama can so easily claim Hillary to be the "face of the broken system in Washington?" Hillary has done great things for the state of New York since being elected Senator and she certainly was not involved in the recent rash of congressional scandals that came out of the Jack Abramoff investigation (few Democrats were, and she wasn't one of them). She is not George Bush, Dick Cheney, Tom Delay or Karl Rove. If Hillary is somehow the obstacle to bringing people together, where does that leave the Republican congressional leadership or the man (men) who've run the country these last eight years?
...maybe some readers can chime in here. Who does Obama think his "I'm the only one who can bring the country together" rhetoric appeals to on the left?
I've been mulling this for the last couple months and just can't figure it out and now it's clearly the basis of his attack on Hillary. For the last 8 years we've been throttled by the Right and their enablers in the press. It's not as if Clinton caused the rift, it was the Richard Melone Scaife's, the Roger Ailes and Rush Limbaughs, the Newt Gingriches, the Ken Starrs and the Ann Coulters and even that bastion of radical liberalism - the New York Times with their faux Whitewater features and MoDo's and Kit Seelye's shots at the Gore campaign. And it is somehow Clinton's fault because she would be unable to bring the dittoheads and Clinton sex obsessors together to pass "bipartisan" legislation despite the fact that with all her husband went through in the 90s, the moment Clinton entered the Senate in 2001 that was exactly what she set out to do and sponsored legislation with Tom Delay and worked with Newt Gingrich.
I'm sorry, but I just don't buy his pitch. I don't think for a minute that the problem with the country is that both parties have been too partisan, it's that on issue after issue when The Left should have stood up, it stood down.

Outside Magazine has a review of the environmental interests, accomplishments and priorities of the candidates, Dem and Repub. It says Clinton has sponsored or co-sponsored over 400 environmental bills and has pledged to reverse the undoing of environmental protections Bush has perpetrated. Obama supported a coal mining bill that would benefit mining interests in So. Illinois. Which is the stronger record for those concerned about the environment? Obama rides a bike for fun but Hillary spent a summer working in Denali National Park. People just don't know her very well. People who think Obama is the new hope don't know him very well either.
