About Iraq

There's is something fundamental that the Bush/McCain/Lieberman "keep the troops there forever" camp just don't get. Unless the U.S. makes clear that by a certain date most U.S. troops will be out of Iraq, there is no way we can expect the Iraqi government to make any progress.

But Bush says we'll be there at least into 2009 so fuck it...

To be clear, the incoming Dem leadership takes the opposite view - that we need to tell the Iraqis we are going home within the next 4-6 months.
