Bright spot number two, three, four, etc.

are the impassioned speeches given in defense of habeas corpus and in opposition to torture this morning by several democratic senators. I was particularly moved by Dodd, Leahy, and - of course - Kerry. So much so that I recorded his speech on my computer, and have uploaded an audio file here.

Kerry earned my eternal gratitude by stating the obvious - that we cannot trust George Bush with this power. That, in fact, we cannot trust George Bush, period.
