great Digby post

Digby has a thoughtful post up about the Allen macaca fiasco.
George Felix Allen is the most disgusting serious candidate for president this country has produced in many decades. The fact that he's backed by a large number of powerful mainstream Republicans for the nomination shows what that party really is, even now, after all this time.

Update: Allen has apologized again, sort of:

"I also made up a nickname for the cameraman, which was in no way intended to be racially derogatory. Any insinuations to the contrary are completely false."

“I never want to embarrass or demean anyone and I apologize if my comments offended this young man
    bullshit.
I agree that what Allen said was conscious and deliberate. But in all the words I've read about this incident, I hadn't seen anyone pick up on another part of the video, which brings me to my D'Oh!! moment. From Digby's comments:
I also noticed that in the middle of Allen's remarks, he said that his opponent wasn't there because he was with "Hollywood movie moguls". Among the mouth-breathing racist set, "Hollywood movie moguls" is established code for Jews. This guy Allen is a piece of work.
Indeed. The Virginia voters have a chance to cast the racist creep out - let's hope they seize their opportunity.
