Army reports recruitment numbers way up

Following on the heels of Friday's post comes this piece of news.

The improved recruitment rate, which was helped by enlistment bonuses, additional recruiters and a slight relaxation of aptitude requirements, has surprised even some officials within the Army's personnel command who were doubtful a few months earlier.

The Army is expected to announce later today that it signed up 8,756 recruits in June, surpassing its goal of 8,600 for the month and that it has already recruited 89% of the 10,450 troops it will need to ship off in July. "I am very optimistic for July," said Lt. Gen. Michael Rochelle, the Army's general in charge of personnel.

But there remain concerns that the recruits brought in over the past two years may not meet the same standards as recruits in previous years, when the environment wasn't as tough.

Which begs the question, exactly who are these new recruits, and how many are coming from right wing hate groups looking for free military training for their shock troops?
