Since Andy Card's resignation yesterday, rumors and speculation have been floated here and there about the possibility that he might consider a run for Mitt Romney's soon-to-be-vacant throne.
I was trying to ignore the possibility, but now the Wall Street Journal (via Salon) has weighed in and that gives the rumors a bit more substance. It may make sense for the not-exactly-thriving MA republican party - Kerry Healey is hardly burning up the polls. On the other hand, a close Bush ally running in MA will be a great kick-in-the-pants for state dems, who are already highly motivated to win.
Does this mean blood in the streets in MA? John Kerry has vowed to get a democratic governor elected in his home state. Last I looked, Bush's net approval rating in MA was at -45%. If the full weight of the rethug machine comes to town to help out their boy Andy, things will without a doubt get ugly and personal.
