I agree with Diane - politicians are complex creatures, and really, they almost never do anything exclusively for the reasons they say they do. However, on all the issues Diane touched on, Alito, Roberts, censure (one could add the continuing war in Iraq) lefty bloggers have criticized those Democrats who went silent. Feingold's measure garnered a bit more attention perhaps because it was a dramatic gesture and Feingold stood behind it basically alone - unlike the case with Roberts or the Kerry's attempted filibuster of Alito.
I think in the end, this comes down to whether you support the notion that lefty bloggers exist in part not only to criticize Bush and his policies but also to take what was a Democratic party stuck in the rut of centrism and make it real again. We do a bit less of that here than on many far more prominent progressive blogs, but I don't think it's destructive, so long as we keep in mind we're all united in rebuilding a Democratic majority.
