You can pretty much count on the White House - whose policy shop is controlled by political hacks - to make empty grand promises like ridding the country from Middle East oil when they have nothing better to say. Make no mistake, an administration chalked full of former oil executives isn't going to be doing anything serious about ridding us of our "addiction" to foreign oil.
