It seems to me the Democrats have an opportunity with the nomination of Samual Alito to the Supreme Court to finally fight and win a battle largely over social issues.
Most Americans would not support the overturning of Roe v. Wade, yet Alito wants to do that. Alito has supported in the past broad executive power, the kind of power we are seeing abused today by the Bush administration.
If the Democrats can't fight and win by appealing to moderate Senators like Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe to protect a woman's right to choose, how many other issues that garner broad majority support among American voters will the Democrats cave on?
