I think we should all be very careful about overstating our prospects for 2006 in light of the GOPs recent troubles. But, the ball is clearly in the Democrats' court right now. Particularly in the Senate, where the risk for Democrats of losing a seat seems to diminish by the day, while the chance at gaining at least two seems to be growing. Just to make small gains in the Senate and House next year would be an accomplishment. Remember, nationally, Democrats haven't been the victors since the 1998 midterms.
