Pure Politics

Schiavo may turn out to be a far more troubling issue for the GOP politically that the news nets would have you believe. It appears some moderate Republicans are speaking out against the actions of Bugman and the Doctor with an eye to polls showing overwhelming public opposition to what Congress has done.

However, as I made clear in an earlier post, allowing the Republicans to repeatedly define and then win on "culture of life" issues exposes Democratic timidity in yet another realm of the national dialogue. And we can hardly expect the media to do the Democrats' job simply because of a couple polls.

...a TPM reader
has more. I think I agree with Josh. Democrats need to speak truth as loudly and as often as possible. Keeping mum on something like this, while it may well work out politically, in the long run corrupts the party.
