Antonio Villaraigosa has captured the early lead in the Los Angeles mayoral primary. James Hahn - the incumbent - and Bob Hertzberg are neck and neck for the run-off spot.
Looks like Hahn is out of there. Probably a good thing since he's a Republican (although LA's mayoral election is refreshingly non-partisan) and Villaraigosa stands a chance of becoming the city's first Latino mayor since the 19th century.
Also, Robert Matsui's wife, Doris, won a special election for her husband's seat, capturing just under 72% of the vote.
