It's the midterms, stupid

The Note says...
    If Democrats say that this fight is over, they're not being entirely honest.

    Why else would an outside group affiliated with them called Americans United to Protect Social Security be embarking on such an ambitious, mutlimillion-dollar, 29-state, 60-day mobilization to "protect Social Security" if the dog can't and won't hunt?
Let's be clear: There is ZERO chance Bush will get private accounts. Fifty Senators voted against them yesterday. Supporters of the Bush plan don't have the votes, pure and simple.

The Note should know that the real reason Democrats are still hammering this issue is because we're going to take it to the ballot box in 2006 and vulnerable GOP incumbents that stand in our way should be shaking with fear.
