Openmouthed?

There's never been any doubt in my mind that the White House and their allies in the press and the wingnutty blogosphere created an environment that made Rather's "firing" almost a necessity for CBS News. Not that he and those responsible for reporting on the unsubstantiated Guard memos should have kept their jobs, but by contrast we could look at those fired for reporting on the completely unsubstantiated Whitewater "scandal"...oh wait, there were none. So, was Putin so wrong?
