From the sound of this article, it seems like the Democrats played pretty tough in Washington state and apparently have won. Christine Gregoire, the state AG is ahead in the vote count, and the state Supreme Court yesterday ruled to allow hundreds of uncounted ballots from King County - a Democratic stronghold. Even before the ruling, Gregoire was ahead, but by only 10 votes. Of course the Republicans say they'll fight, but state law prohibits a second hand recount (the one being finished now was actually a second recount, the first was done by machine) and with the results soon to be certified declaring Mrs. Gregoire the victor it will be very hard for Republicans to argue that the legal process should go on.
You should read the whole article. There's a great description of the state Democratic party chairman getting up everyday at 6am to go at it with his Republican counterpart on talk radio.
