Port Authority Governors Races

According to the Note, Senator Jon Corzine will announce today that he is entering the New Jersey Governor's race. They also say New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer may announce soon that he's running for New York governor.

I suspect Corzine will win, but if it becomes close, he'll know doubt drown his opponent - whoever it may be - in TV ad money like he did when he first ran for Senator. However, Corzine seems to be a popular and effective Senator so we can forgive him his campaign largess. And at this point, whatever it takes to win, right?

Spitzer we've already talked about. We think he's fantastic. Did we mention he was also Time Magazine's "Crusader of the Year" in 2002?! A liberal on social issues -in New York that's still ok-and a real protector of the proverbial "little guy." Pataki should be making a decision soon as to what office he will seek next. Another term in office? A race against Hillary for Senate in 2006? The presidency?

Only time will tell...
