Just back in town and am thrilled, THRILLED, with Kerry's choice. Everyone has known for a long time the sorts of qualities Edwards would bring to the ticket and the press's love affair with him couldn't be more different than the disdain with which big media treat Kerry. However, what is really wonderful is the way Kerry handled the announcement. Enough doubt had gathered in the months since Edwards dropped out that many people thought Kerry might go for Gephardt or Vilsack, presumably thinking that the more experienced and less flashy candidates would be a better fit for Kerry who spoke frequently about wanting a candidate he was "comfortable" with.
So, the Edwards choice looks and feels like the product of careful deliberation and not like a decision Kerry was "forced" into. Also, it came as somehwat of a surprise. Everyone knew Edwards was in the running but no one could say for sure.
And, of course, there's the New York Post shooting themselves in the foot...
