US backed Shiite negotiators meet with Al Sadr

Debka.com offers this exclusive report.

Apparently, US backed Shiites are attempting to get Al Sadr to stand down, warning him that his Iranian sympathizers will fail to provide any additional support for his militia. Debka also says that time is on Al Sadr's side in prolonging the uprising in the hopes that necessary reinforcements will come from Iran under cover of the Shiite Arbain religious pilgrimage to Iraqi holy sites going on now. They point out that we won't know if Sadr has been successful in getting further support from Iranian religious pilgrims until Monday or Tuesday, but that the possibility of a spark inciting large numbers of Shiite pilgrims to turn on the United States exists.
