Iraq situation worsens: 2 Americans, 4 Italians held hostage, Debka.com map update

The excellent online Israeli paper Debka.comhas this update on the situation in Iraq:
    Insurgents say holding 4 Italians, 2 Americans seized in western Baghdad’s Abu Ghraib District. Earlier, 3 Japanese, 2 Palestinians, 1 Briton and 1 Canadian were snatched.

    Briton working for US company shot dead in Baghdad Friday. Murder shortly after US military news briefing interrupted by mortar blast at tennis court of heavily secured Baghdad Sheraton Hotel which houses most of international media and foreign contractors. Blast hurt no one but psychologically damaging on first anniversary of Saddam's overthrow.

    Iraqi insurgency spreads to northern town of Baquba. Shiite and Sunni Muslim coming out of Friday prayers attack US base together. Iraqi guerrillas seize route to Fallujah from Abu Gharib west of Baghdad after attacking US supply convoy of fuel and medicines and killing nine.

    Expert hostage-taker Mughniyeh and his Hizballah team are orchestrating abduction campaign against foreigners in Iraq. Senior security sources predict hostage-taking first seen in Beirut in 1980s has just begun.
