Guard record was tampered with...

This AP story provides a nice build up to the appearance, coming Sunday on 60 Minutes, of the former Lieutenant Governor of Texas, Ben Barnes, who says he helped George W. Bush get into the National Guard and that when he looks at the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Washington, he feels guilty at having helped so many sons of privilege jump ahead in line for Guard duty during the war. You'll remember that Bush has said there was no favoritism involved in his getting into the guard.

According to the AP, several important parts of Bush's Guard file are missing. Parts that might have explained why he missed his flight physical and where he was for several months when he was supposed to be serving in Alabama. Many have always suspected foul play at work in some parts of Bush's Guard story. There have been claims that records were scrubbed in preparation for Bush's first presidential campaign. And Bush's claims to have not benefited from favoritism and to have had an honest attendance record while in the National Guard have always wrong false due to a lack of any evidence to back them up.

While I don't think Kerry should waste anytime pushing this story himself, if the media puts BC04' on the defensive over this it helps us deflect some of the heat our side is getting from the swift vet liars.

All these claims that real voters don't care about this shit is not true. The media loves it, and they are the ones that decide what voters care about, unfortunately.
